Hasselt BT beat Gent-Oost Eagles 85–72 behind Maarten Kesters's 19
Hasselt BT took control early and never surrendered it, dispatching Gent-Oost Eagles 85–72 in Group A play. A 20-point lead — built to 51–31 with 7:41 left in the third quarter — proved decisive, even after the Eagles mounted a spirited 10-0 run mid-quarter that cut the deficit to ten. The hosts set the tone from the opening quarter, racing to 22–17, then extended their grip through the second with solid ball movement. By half-time, Hasselt led 41–28, a spread that would prove too much for Gent-Oost to overcome despite a fourth quarter that saw the Eagles outscore Hasselt 23–22 in the final frame. Maarten Kesters led the way with 19 points on efficient shooting — 7 of 12 from the floor, 5 of 7 from three — while Gijs Moors added 14 points and 6 rebounds. Wouter Screurs orchestrated the offense with 8 assists and pulled down 6 boards. For the Eagles, Jens Coppens managed 12 points but lacked the consistent support needed to threaten a comeback. Hasselt BT visit CEP Fleurus this Friday. Gent-Oost Eagles host Amon Jeugd Gentson on Sunday.
