Basket Tongeren beat Union BC Quaregnon 72–68 behind Gaetan Hertay's 23
Basket Tongeren held off a late surge from Union BC Quaregnon to win 72-68 in Group A, a four-point finish that came down to execution in the final stretch. The game hung in balance for nearly all of its length — six lead changes and four ties across the floor. Basket Tongeren built their largest cushion with 1:48 left in the fourth quarter, leading 70-60, but Quaregnon refused to fold. An 8-0 run in the opening quarter had already shown their appetite for a fight; when the margin thinned to one possession inside the final two minutes, a genuine contest was still in play. Tongeren's composure down the stretch — and their shooting touch — proved the difference. Gaetan Hertay led Basket Tongeren with a double-double: 23 points on 9/14 shooting and 12 rebounds. Bo Ramaekers (12 PTS, 4/10 FG, 2/4 three) and Giuliano Neri (14 PTS on 5/16) provided secondary scoring. For Quaregnon, Sven Poisson and Milhan Pierzchala each hit 20 points, with Pierzchala's 5/7 three-point accuracy and 4 steals showing real defensive bite. Quaregnon host Phantoms Basket Boom on Sunday, 4 October. Basket Tongeren visit Gembo Borgerhout on Saturday, 3 October.
