BC Guco Lier hold off Royal Castors Braine 87–84 in a nail-biter
BC Guco Lier B held off a late rally from Royal Castors Braine to escape with a three-point win, 87–84, snapping a two-game losing run in Group B. The hosts led by as many as 16 points midway through the fourth quarter at 84–68, but Braine refused to fold. Royal Castors mounted a furious comeback in the final five minutes, cutting it to one possession with under two minutes left, yet could not find the equaliser. Lier B had led 66–58 after three quarters following a dominant third-quarter performance — a 12-0 run in the middle of that frame, from 42–42 to 54–42, proved decisive when the visitors tightened their grip. Braine won two of the four quarters (the first, 23–18, and the fourth, 26–21) but could not sustain the pressure. Jean Bonsenge carried the load with 35 PTS on 13/25 shooting, 2–7 from three, 7/16 from the line, adding 5 REB and 2 AST. Estime Vangu chipped in 12 PTS, 9 REB and 3 AST, while Sammy Bah scored 14 PTS on efficient 4/7 shooting with 2–4 from deep. It was not enough: Braine remain winless, dropping to 0–8 in the competition. Wout Van Leuven led Lier B with 20 PTS on 6/13 shooting and a team-high 8 REB. Max Vandriessche added 19 PTS, 5 REB and shot cleanly at 7/12 overall and 3/6 from three. Roan De Bodt was a bright spark off the bench, posting a perfect 4/4 night with 11 PTS, 6 REB and 3 AST. Lier B visit KBBC Oostkamp on Saturday 14 November, while Braine host BC Asse-Ternat the same day.
