Republic of Korea Women NT

Marie Guelich finished the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup Qualification campaign with a surgical 16-minute performance: 19 points on 7-of-9 shooting, 5 rebounds and 3 assists, without a turnover or foul. Germany Women NT's 94–56 home victory over Republic of Korea Women NT ended their run in the competition. Guelich's precision — particularly her 5-of-6 free-throw shooting — epitomised the clinical control that defined the win, a 38-point margin that underlined the gap in class on the night. With no further matches ahead, the performance capped Germany Women NT's qualification effort on a note of dominance.

Germany Women NT never trailed and built a lead so wide it never closed: a 38-point victory over Republic of Korea Women NT that was decided early and rarely threatened again. The gap opened fast. Germany led 23–14 after one quarter, then stretched it to 46–29 by half-time with another solid half. The third quarter saw the margin grow to 26 points (68–40), and though Korea managed 16 points in the fourth, Germany added 26 to finish the job. A 9-0 run mid-quarter pushed the scoreline to 94–56 and put the result beyond any doubt. Marie Guelich led Germany with 19 points on sharp 7/9 shooting and 5/6 from the free-throw line, while Frieda Buhner added 17 points (5/9 FG) and Luisa Geiselsoder chipped in 12 on 6/9 accuracy. For Korea, Haeran Lee's 21 points on 10/13 shooting kept her side respectable individually, but Leeseul Kang's 17 points on 6/15 from the field and a third-quarter collapse left little room for a comeback. Heji An shot 2/2 from three but finished with only 8 points in a game where Korea's offense never found rhythm against Germany's defense. This World Cup campaign ends here for both teams. Germany's balanced scoring and half-time control shaped a dominant passage through qualification; Korea's loss marks the end of their tournament run.

Two of the World Cup's most efficient scorers take the floor in the next three hours, and the margin between them could easily decide how far each team advances. Frieda Buhner has been Germany's heartbeat in recent weeks — a 47.5 TIB Efficiency rating built on 14.7 points per game and the kind of floor vision (1.7 assists) that stretches defenses thin. She's the throughline between Germany's halfcourt sets and their best scoring chances. Jihyun Park enters with 46.8 efficiency and a subtly different profile: 16.7 PPG paired with 3 assists per game, suggesting a player who creates as readily as she scores. That additional playmaking burden — or opportunity — will be central to how Republic of Korea shapes their attack. Neither player will face a perfect matchup. But in a World Cup where possessions are currency, the one who imposes her efficiency on the other's rhythm may well decide the evening. Germany and Republic of Korea tip off now.

Dorka Juhasz finished Hungary Women NT's World Cup campaign on a high note, posting 22 points, 11 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal across 27 minutes against Republic of Korea Women NT. She shot 8 of 13 from the field, including 2 of 2 from three-point range, and 4 of 6 at the free-throw line — a clean sheet of zero turnovers and zero fouls. Hungary Women NT claimed a 82–73 victory at home to close out their Group B run. Juhasz's efficiency in the paint and beyond the arc proved decisive: she moved without wasting motion, finished her looks, and gave the hosts a steady scoring anchor in a contest that required controlled execution more than pace. For a Hungarian side looking to leave a mark on their World Cup window, this was the kind of closing statement — reliable, mistake-free basketball from a key player — that defines a tournament appearance well spent.

Dorka Juhasz steadied Hungary when the game hung in balance. With the score level entering the final five minutes against Republic of Korea, Juhasz converted on both her attempts from the field—including a three-pointer—while adding two rebounds and an assist. She did not turn the ball over or draw a foul. Hungary pulled clear to win 82–73, a nine-point margin that ended their Group B campaign on a decisive note.

🏀 Final: Hungary Women NT 82–73 Republic of Korea Women NT. Top: Dorka Juhasz 22 PTS.

Dorka Juhasz has been Hungary's engine in this tournament, posting 14.5 points per game on a 52.3 TIB Efficiency rating. She runs the floor with precision and converts in volume — a player who demands defensive attention every possession. Leeseul Kang matches that intensity from the opposite corner. The Republic of Korea's floor general has been equally prolific at 14 points per game, but her real imprint is in orchestration: 4 assists per game, the highest creation rate between the two, built on a 53 TIB Efficiency mark that edges out Juhasz's. The matchup hinges on this duel. Juhasz attacks more readily; Kang controls tempo and shape. Hungary will need their captain's scoring punch to offset Korea's offensive structure, while Korea's ball movement and perimeter discipline will be tested against Juhasz's ability to find soft spots and finish. Tip-off in roughly three hours. Watch both.

🥶 Clutch player: Haeran LEE — 2 PTS, 3 REB, 2 AST in the last 5 minutes. Republic of Korea Women NT up 10 with the game on the line; Republic of Korea Women NT took it, 99–81.

Nigeria led early—up 6 points with 9:18 left in the first quarter—but Republic of Korea answered immediately. A 7-0 run midway through Q1 swung the momentum, and Korea never trailed again. By half-time the score sat at 48–45, a four-point edge that Korea extended to six after three quarters (68–62) before the decisive fourth quarter put the game beyond reach. Korea outscored Nigeria 31–19 in the final frame, stretching their lead to 19 points with 1:37 remaining. The back-and-forth nature early—nine lead changes and three ties—dissolved into Korean control once the defense tightened and the shooting began to fall. Jihyun Park led the way with 27 points on efficient shooting (7/15 FG, 3/6 from three, 10/11 FT) and added six steals. Leeseul Kang distributed the ball with purpose, finishing with 20 points and seven assists on 6/11 three-point shooting. Isaem Choi was nearly perfect from deep, going 4-for-4 from three while scoring 19 points. Amy Okonkwo kept Nigeria competitive through the final stretch—22 points on 8/15 shooting—but Murjanatu Musa's 13 rebounds and 15 points could not overcome Korea's fourth-quarter firepower. Republic of Korea faces France on Saturday 5 Sept in Group B play.
