Nos jeunes Bleues ont maîtrisé leur sujet face à la Finlande. Un succès net et sans bavure : 82-62, soit 20 points d'écart.
Le match s'est décidé progressivement. Après un premier quart-temps serré (25-23), la France a imposé son rythme en deuxième période en enfilant un 8-0 décisif, passant de 27-27 à 35-27. Cet élan n'a jamais faibli. Le troisième quart-temps a confirmé la domination avec un écart qui s'est creusé jusqu'à 25 points (82-57), avant une légère résistance finlandaise en dernier acte qui n'a rien changé au verdict.
Thelma Leray (16 PTS, 7 REB, 4 AST, 6/14 au tir, 4/9 à trois points) a porté l'attaque française. Camille Sevaux a fait le travail dans la raquette : 14 PTS, 11 REB et un double-double de qualité (5/10 au tir, 3/6 aux lancers). Emma Broliron a ajouté 14 PTS dans un contexte moins fluide offensif (4/15 au tir) mais avec 5 interceptions qui ont pesé sur le tempo.

Aurelie Vanderstraeten carried our young Cats to a narrow win over Finland, dropping 26 points on efficient shooting to edge past the Finns 65–69 in Division A play at the U18 EuroBasket.
The Belgian forward was the difference in a tight contest, dictating tempo and working inside when Finland's defense compressed on the perimeter. Four rebounds and a steal rounded out her evening — a complete performance in a game that could have tipped either way in the final moments.
It was the kind of statement a prospect makes when her team needs one most. Our Cats face their next group assignment with momentum now, though the margin reminds us how thin these margins are at this level.

Belgium's young Cats held off a late Finnish surge to secure a four-point win in a back-and-forth FIBA U18 Women's EuroBasket contest. Wire-to-wire control proved decisive, even as the final quarter threatened to undo the work done earlier.
The gap widened in the first half. Belgium built a 15-point lead at its peak (36-21) and took a comfortable 40-32 margin into the break. Finland tightened things considerably after the interval — outscoring the Cats 20-12 in the fourth quarter, including an 8-0 run that cut the deficit to a single possession with under two minutes left. Too little, too late: Belgium's foundation held.
Aurelie Vanderstraeten was the engine, pouring in 26 points to carry the offensive load. Annie Kibedi orchestrated from the floor with 9 points and 7 assists, while Romane Kirsch added 10. For Finland, Anna Gardziella's all-around game (17 PTS, 9 REB, 5 AST) kept her side competitive, but it wasn't quite enough.

Annie Kibedi's 39.1 TIB Efficiency rating has made her the standout performer for our young Cats so far — a half-point clear of Finland's Lilli Onnela heading into tonight's Division A clash at FIBA U18 Women's EuroBasket.
Both guards have been doing similar work: Kibedi averaging 11.7 points and 2.1 assists per game, Onnela at 11.4 and 1.8. The margin is thin, but it's enough to track. Finland arrive without the flaws that usually trip up U18 sides — they move the ball, they defend gaps — yet our Cats have the edge where it matters most in these tournaments: consistency and composure in transition.
The real story isn't who scores most tonight. It's who controls the tempo and forces the other team into rushed decisions. If Kibedi can dictate pace and get our role players touching the ball in rhythm, Belgium's depth becomes dangerous. If Onnela gets Finland into their sets early, they'll be hard to shake.
